The Curonian Spit is one of the most strikingly beautiful and magic spots of Lithuania. The sandy strip created by nature and man stretches between the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon.

According to the legend, the Spit was formed by Neringa, a giant girl who wanted to protect local fishermen from violent storms. Today the Curonian Spit is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that boasts of unique sand dunes: white, grey (sometimes called dead, as in the past buried entire villages and are rarity in Europe) as well as shifting dunes. Not only the beauty of nature and tranquility invigorate the heart and the soul, but also history blends into this harmony. The Curonian Spit is to unique flora and fauna, authentic houses and fishermen’s cottages. Most of the Spit is covered by forests in which grey herons and cormorants build their nests and hatch. This place is important for other birds and is well suited bird migration route between the North and the South. The Curonian Spit is a special place because it has the largest number of sunny and warm days in the country.

Amber known as Lithuanian Gold is plentiful here. It is a petrified tree sap that took around 50 million years to form. For the Balts, amber testified to their glory 2 thousand years ago not only in Europe, Africa and Asia but still can be found on the Baltic Sea coast after the storms. Referred as the Sun stone, it is used for jewelry making and also is praised for medicinal healing powers. Every single amber piece is unique and every decoration is exceptional. There are 250 kinds of amber across the globe and some new ones are discovered every year except for Antarctica. The Baltic amber comprises 80% of all the excavated amber in the world and is the most suitable for processing and making jewelry.
