Last year showed that the Baltic region – Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania – is becoming increasingly popular tourist destinations. Besides that, it is a big advantage to see all three countries in one go and to compare them, if that is possible at all.
Baltic republics, Baltic trio, Baltic states, Baltic sisters, Baltic nations, Baltic tigers, Baltic countries or simply Baltics is the region to explore. 20 years ago (in 2004) all three became members of NATO (last year NATO Summit took place in Vilnius) and the European Union (all three have euros as their national currency – are part of the Eurozone), and are classified as high-income economies with a very high Human Development Index.
Super safe and comfortable
Besides the above-mentioned factors, Baltics have one of the lowest crime rate indexes in the World. Plus prices, compared to other EU countries, are relatively low. Most hotels are much cheaper and food quality standards are high, no matter in big or small towns.
Since the region is still not discovered by many, even during summer months most tourist attractions are not crowded, except for one or two most popular. And you can easily choose alternative routes. All three Baltic sisters are very hospitable and most Estonians, Latvians and Lithuanians speak English.
Moreover, Baltic trio are not big and it’s worth exploring them by car. Plus you can find many interesting and unique places in the province. Estonia has very interesting and interactive museums, Latvia is famous for its castles and palaces (more than 200 of them) and Lithuania has huge national parks with hilly forests and thousands of lakes and rivers.
Just around the corner
Baltics are easily accessible all year round, no matter where you arrive from. And tourist season, because of climate change, now basically starts already in May (last year the whole month was warm and sunny) and ends in October (golden autumn). And, surprisingly, in winter we still have snow to celebrate the Christmas season and enjoy local ski and spa resorts.
And, finally, in 2024 local municipalities are taking very serious steps to fight the issue of lack of public toilets. So by the time you arrive, it will be solved.
This means that the only unsolved problem will be black humor, still admired by many. Good luck in discovering the undiscovered.
