We set up a private day tour to Kaunas. We went to the Ninth Fort, Sugihara House, and the Museum of History of Lithuanian Medicine and Pharmacy. We were shown around Old Town as well. Inga was a fantastic tour guide, and it was a pleasure to spend the day with her!
We emailed DL just a day before we decided to take a tour and they were very prompt in responding to all our inquiries and confirming our private tour in Kaunas. Our guide and driver were right on time in picking us up at our hotel. Both were very friendly and pleasant. Kaunas is about an hour from Vilnius on the highway. We visited the Fort (although closed on the day we went, we walked the grounds and saw the memorial), atomic bunker (unexpected how cool this place is; lots of original spy devices, radios, etc. It was built in the 70’s and not really intended for long periods of sustainability, but nevertheless interesting), a small part of Old town, a church and peaceful monastery. We also went to a Lithuanian restaurant for lunch where we had a delicious meal of turkey, salad, and venison stew. We throughly enjoyed our day with the locals (apologies for not noting their names) and would recommend for a day trip outside of Vilnius.
