Visiting Bauska Castle, which is surrounded by a picturesque scenery and represents an example of military architecture (XV – XVII century). The Castle consists of two parts: the fortress built especially for the use of firearms and residential castle fortified with bastions, protective walls and earthen ramparts. Inside the Castle there is a small museum with the artifacts of Latvian cultural and social life.
About two hours is reserved to explore Rundale Palace, one of the most outstanding monuments of Baroque and Rococo architecture in Latvia, which sometimes is called as ‘The Versailles of Latvia’. Rundāle Palace is built in the mid 18th-Century by the Russian court architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, it was the summer residence of the Duke of Courland. The two-story castle contains 138 elaborate rooms, a lovely French garden and a museum dedicated to the history of Latvia.

We really enjoyed this tour with lots of cultural stops and breathtaking views. The day before the tour we realised we made a mistake and booked a one-way trip when we had thought we booked a round-trip (our mistake!). We called up the company and got it sorted very easily for a small charge. Very well served! We really enjoyed the trip and had a wonderful guide. Would recommend!

We enjoyed our excellent day tour from Riga to Vilnius. Our driver/guide was knowledgeable and provided useful history of both countries. The tour covers 3 main interests – the castle, palace and hill of crosses. We have lunch with our guide at a homely Lithuanian restaurant which was delicious. The car used for the day tour was also very comfortable. We highly recommend Discover Lithuania tours!
