Itinerary

DAY 1Pick up and transfer from Airport

Arrive at Vilnius Airport and enjoy a transfer to your hotel. Overnight

DAY 2Tour around Vilnius city and surroundings

During centuries Vilnius city has changed many times, nevertheless, the narrow streets and old buildings are telling the stories about hundreds of events that happened here. Castle (Pilies) street, which was one of the biggest importance in the middle ages is also popular today: lively with small cafes, restaurants which invites you to taste traditional food and souvenir shops to find handmade gifts. Narrow streets and secret courtyards of Vilnius old town will transfer you back in time few hundred years.
You will explore the most interesting objects in old town as the Town Hall, an Upper Castle, Cathedral, Vilnius University – the oldest university in Lithuania, the Gates of Dawn – the most mysterious and magical place in the city, gothic St. Annes Church, the most beautiful St. Peter and St. Paul catholic church as well as other exclusive places in the city center and surroundings.

DAY 3Optional: Anyksciai area, Dzukija county or Kaunas city

Day tour according to your interests. The first option is to Anyksciai area and let you discover Lithuanian countryside: nature, tradditions, customs and ethnographic crafts. If you seek to improve your knowledge about Lithuanian history, especialy for the soviet regime, then trip to Dzukija county will be the perfect option for you. For the city tour lovers we pick the tour to the second biggest city in Lithuania – Kaunas, which has cozy old town and is rich by interwar architecture.

DAY 4Trip to Paneriai Memorial Park and Trakai Island Castle

On the way to Trakai town first stop in Paneriai Memorial Park. Paneriai (Ponary) is known because of tragic holocaust history. Thousands of people, mainly jewish lost their lives in biggest massive grave in Lithuania.
Later on Trakai, which is one of the first medieval capitals of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The Trakai Island Castle is the most popular tourist attraction in Lithuania. You will understand Lithuania history in general after visiting the museum in the Castle with a guide. After historical part you will have some free time to enjoy the beauty of Trakai and to try local traditional pastries of karaites – kibinai.

DAY 5Lithuanian Seaside

The trip to the gem of Lithuanian landscape – The Curonian Spit National Park, which is 98 km long peninsula between Baltic Sea and the Curonian Bay, formed more than 5 000 years ago by the sea surge and streams, sand and wind. It gives an unforgettable impression to visitors with its wind-blown dunes, bright pine forest and authentic homesteads in Juodkrante, Pervalka, Preila and Nida. This object has received the global community recognition and was included in UNESCO World heritage list as a cultural landscape site with a multitude of natural and cultural heritage assets.

DAY 6Klaipeda, Plateliai & The Hill of Crosses

The day is dedicated to explore Klaipėda- Lithuania’s unfrozen port city and oldest city in Lithuania already mentioned in 1252. You will visit Klaipėda old town which is very different from other Lithuania’s old towns: with planned structure of streets and the influence of German culture. Later on you will visit the only one in Europe – Cold War museum In Plateliai, which tells about armament competition between SSRS and USA after World War II. The first ballistic missile base nowadays is transformed to the museum where you will feel the power and absurdity of Cold War.
And finally, the Hill of Crosses is one more authentic, unique and historical place in Lithuania. The history of the hill starts in in middle of XIX cent., when people started to plant crosses here. During the years the meaning of the hill was changing but today it is one of the main pilgrimage sites in Lithuania. You will be overwhelmed by uncountable amount of crosses in different sizes and shapes which stays here for many different reasons. Tour finishes in Vilnius or Riga.
